Ta-Da, I'm Back!

I sincerely apologize to all three of my readers for being MIA from blogging! Life, to say the least has been hectic, crazy, and eventful! But there has been a LOT of stuff going on! A few weeks ago we added a new member to the home, another rat! Her name is Honey Fitz, cleverly named after John F. Kennedy's presidential yacht. Needless to say JFK is one of my favorite presidents...EVER! I will post pics of her soon!

I have been busy with teaching, coaching, attending my own classes, and job hunting. Last week my university had our "education interview day" and it was a lot of fun. I learned about so my districts and got to talk to my peers who are also on the hunt for teaching positions. So, as of today I have applied to 3 districts...and that is all I have to apply for. I interviewed for a position on Thursday. On Friday I recieved a call to inform me that I will be teaching 7th graders next year. I will still be in Kansas, which I'm indifferent about at the moment, however I will be in Kansas City...and I do LOVE Kansas City! Talk about shopping...The district I will be teaching in is wonderful and the school is brand new. I will be making money and will have full benefits-which is something I've never had. There were over 80 applications, one internal application, and eight interviews. I'm still in awe that I was selected. The 7th graders look so much smaller than my current 11th graders, but I'm so excited to be teaching a grade level that hasn't completely turned off learning! I feel so blessed and thankful to know that I will not be waiting until the first week of August for a job. I feel so blessed and thankful that I will not have to sub next year. I feel so thankful that I know this is the path I should be taking. Now I'm not so scared that my lease runs up in 2 months. Speaking of...I will graduate in less than 2 months!!! Wow. I bought my invitations this weekend and will be sending them out this week! My birthday is on Wednesday and I'm on spring break. Things came together quite nicely if you ask me ;)
Today I recieved this in the mail:
Ignore the editing. An evelope addressed to me from my new district....

I found this lovely "welcome" letter...

And inside was also my teacher contract!!!

Yippee! Things are still pretty surreal for me right now. I feel like I have so much to get done between now and May-invitations, graduation, finish student teaching, study for and pass my licensure test, and write my 25-page paper for my university to assess me.
For now, I'm just going to go ahead and enjoy my spring break!
